So last night a couple of my buddies and I were hanging out in my dorm room just listening to music. I suggested we play UNO to entertain ourselves for a while. Now let me be clear. I have an Xbox in my room which we could have easily used and enjoyed but I wanted to play a classic game. In my closet I have Monopoly, Twister, Apples to Apples, Dominoes, Cards, Checkers, and Jenga. I still enjoy goo, old fashioned, non-electronic games but it’s difficult to find people who actually want to play.
My friends were a bit reluctant at first but finally gave in to playing UNO, and what ensued was a night for the books.
I’m pretty sure we all ended the night with killer abs from laughing so damn hard. How can you laugh so hard playing UNO, you ask? Well I’ll tell you.
So there we all are, innocently playing UNO like good little boys and girls. Then I drop a draw 2 card which I think is going to make the person after me pick up two. Then she drops a draw 2, so the next person would actually have to draw 4. Then he drops a draw 2 so the next person would be drawing 6. The the next person drops ANOTHER draw 2 and badabing badaboom, I’m stuck drawing 8 cards!
Everyone was pretty much dying of laughter because the draw 2’s ended up coming back full circle to me. After that happened the first time it was pretty much a continuation of mockery towards me. I would always end up drawing ridiculous amounts of cards. Now imagine that happening with all draw 4’s! People drew up to 12 cards in one turn! It was absolutely ridiculous and hilarious. My friends dubbed this occurrence as “flaming.” So every time that someone threw down a draw card that started the circle of other throwing down more draw cards, they all yelled “flame her!” And yup, I usually got the short end of the stick when it came to flaming.
Even when I thought that I would be okay to throw down a draw 2 because I had another one just in case it came full circle, I still ended up being flamed one way or another. My friends were cracking up the entire night; I couldn’t help but laugh at the way they were laughing so hard. Dudes even shed tears from sheer hilarity. It was a super entertaining night.
I secretly think everyone had a plot against me because they would always skip me or reverse the order so I didn’t play for various turns, on top of the fact that I’d always get flamed with draw cards. Of course, you can imagine that at some points I got pretty upset because they would just screw me over time and time again, but it was all in good fun so it was never really serious.
We legitimately played UNO for almost 4 hours. Let me repeat that. We played UNO, the card game, with no electronics, for almost 4 hours.
And you know what the crazy part was? We weren’t even drunk.
