Stuff Only Your Roommates Know About You

Okay this legitimately made me laugh because it is so true beyond words!

1. They know what you sound like when you’re having sex.

congrats

Let’s just go ahead and state the obvious. When you live with other people, they’re going to hear you having sex at some point in time, if not weekly. You’ll know which one of you sounds like a porn star, which one manages to be rather quiet but lets out the occasional moan when someone hits her g-spot. There will be at least one person with a squeaky bed that says it all. And when someone’s having drunk sex you might as well be watching porn, because the excessively loud moans, groans, thuds, and crashes are going to bring pictures to your mind you wish you could forget. But if you’re sitting on the couch, munching on a snack, watching TV, and you start to hear the sounds of sweet non-baby-making sex, just be proud at least one of you is…

UNO

uno1

So last night a couple of my buddies and I were hanging out in my dorm room just listening to music. I suggested we play UNO to entertain ourselves for a while. Now let me be clear. I have an Xbox in my room which we could have easily used and enjoyed but I wanted to play a classic game. In my closet I have Monopoly, Twister, Apples to Apples, Dominoes, Cards, Checkers, and Jenga. I still enjoy goo, old fashioned, non-electronic games but it’s difficult to find people who actually want to play.

My friends were a bit reluctant at first but finally gave in to playing UNO, and what ensued was a night for the books.

I’m pretty sure we all ended the night with killer abs from laughing so damn hard. How can you laugh so hard playing UNO, you ask? Well I’ll tell you.

So there we all are, innocently playing UNO like good little boys and girls. Then I drop a draw 2 card which I think is going to make the person after me pick up two. Then she drops a draw 2, so the next person would actually have to draw 4. Then he drops a draw 2 so the next person would be drawing 6. The the next person drops ANOTHER draw 2 and badabing badaboom, I’m stuck drawing 8 cards!

Everyone was pretty much dying of laughter because the draw 2’s ended up coming back full circle to me. After that happened the first time it was pretty much a continuation of mockery towards me. I would always end up drawing ridiculous amounts of cards. Now imagine that happening with all draw 4’s! People drew up to 12 cards in one turn! It was absolutely ridiculous and hilarious. My friends dubbed this occurrence as “flaming.” So every time that someone threw down a draw card that started the circle of other throwing down more draw cards, they all yelled “flame her!” And yup, I usually got the short end of the stick when it came to flaming.

Even when I thought that I would be okay to throw down a draw 2 because I had another one just in case it came full circle, I still ended up being flamed one way or another. My friends were cracking up the entire night; I couldn’t help but laugh at the way they were laughing so hard. Dudes even shed tears from sheer hilarity. It was a super entertaining night.

I secretly think everyone had a plot against me because they would always skip me or reverse the order so I didn’t play for various turns, on top of the fact that I’d always get flamed with draw cards. Of course, you can imagine that at some points I got pretty upset because they would just screw me over time and time again, but it was all in good fun so it was never really serious.

We legitimately played UNO for almost 4 hours. Let me repeat that. We played UNO, the card game, with no electronics, for almost 4 hours.

And you know what the crazy part was? We weren’t even drunk.

Relatable: Paramore’s “Still Into You”

Let me just start off by saying that this is an absolutely beautiful song. It’s so upbeat and playful and happy; it can easily make anyone smile.

The song is about still loving someone even after being together for a very long time. No matter the ups and downs and how difficult some times may get, you’re still into that person. You know they’re worth sticking around for. They can can make you upset and drive you near insanity at times but when you’re close together and hold hands it doesn’t even matter.

It’s the type of love where people wonder how in the world you managed to stay together for so long, but you don’t even have to question it because you just know you were meant to be together.

It’s wonderful to still be able to  get butterflies from seeing someone that you’ve been with for such a long time. The fact that that spark has not left is a true testament to how into that person you actually are. The song mentions the start to forever, so for someone to be thinking about a future with someone else is a very big deal in a relationship.

I love this song because it applies so much to real life. I have seen many relationships where to the naked eye it seems like they just argue all the time or something of the sort, but the trained eye can see that they do not want to have a world without each other.

Unrequited Love

unrequited love

To be in love someone has to be the most beautiful thing in the universe. It is wonderful to care for someone in such a way that you are totally devoted to them. You are willing to do anything and everything for them. You put yourself second to put their happiness first.

But many times that someone does not feel the same way about you as you feel about them. They may care about you and love you but not be in love with you. They do not share the same deep feelings that you do. They are not willing to sacrifice like you are.

But your love for this person is so true that you cannot see through that. All you care about is being with that person no matter what because you know that their company is what keeps you smiling. Yet they may just be with you because they got comfortable with you or like the idea of having you around.

Relationships are never really even. There is always going to be one person who cares more and is more devoted. But what about when you are devoted completely and you can’t tell the other person isn’t putting in as much effort; then you suddenly get hit with a break up or a distancing. That hurts.

Seeing the person you care about so deeply and love unconditionally walk away is heart breaking. It’s earth shattering. It changes everything.

But you still can’t change the way you feel about them. You want to be next to them with every fiber of your being. You want to be the one to make them smile and see them laugh. You want to be there for every important moment. But you can’t; they just denied you that right.

Being Friends With Basketball Players

bball boys

So as you all know by now if you follow my blog, I attend Fordham University and am a huge sports fanatic. I have not missed a football or basketball game since my freshman year and I am now a rising senior. I’ve lost my voice a countless number of times cheering on my team and heckling the other teams and their fans. It’s what I was born to do.

Over the last 3 years at Fordham I’ve developed great relationships with a lot of the guys on the football and basketball team, some closer than others. But I’ve had some crazy stories to share with the basketball team in particular. Since they are not a large group of guys it’s easy for us to always be around each other and enjoy each  other’s company. I love spending time with my boys because they’re hilarious and they just do really silly things; not to mention the super interesting conversations that we have.

What I love the most is just the random stuff that we do like taking a walk on campus at 3 am where no open door goes unexplored, building a fort in the lounge out of blankets and couches and staying there til dawn, or making ridiculous music videos. It’s honestly so much fun to hang with them.

But when we walk together in the street it’s just a really funny sight. Picture these guys that are all 6’6, 6’8, 6’10 walking around this little 5’3 girl. I literally get lost in the crowd of tallness. Like I could easily be cropped out of pictures if they’re cut from the chest up. The looks we get in the street are pretty entertaining because people just gasp at how tall they all are and I’m sure it’s amusing to see this short little girl in between all of them, probably making them look even taller. You’re welcome guys.

Even when I wear my 5 1/2 inch heels to go out that make me close to 5’9, they’re all still half a foot to a foot taller than me. I look so tiny next to them. But I guess that’s what I get for being friends with basketball players.

Summer Bucket List

So I’m going into my senior year of college in September and I’ve come to the realization that this is my last free summer before I start permanently working for the rest of my life. That’s both scary and exciting.

That being said, I want to make sure I have a totally epic summer that I’ll never forget. I want to have one last hoorah and act like a playful child all summer. I want to enjoy things like if they were for the first time.

So here is my personal bucket list of what I want to do with this last summer of freedom:

  1. The number one thing on my list is water fights. I want to start straight up wars with people! I have an arsenal of super-soakers and hundreds of water balloons in my closet ready to be put to good use.
  2. Amusement parks. I want to go to Six Flags and Dorney Park and Playland and just get my adrenaline going. The more people that come the better because thrill rides are always more fun in groups.
  3. The beach. I want to lay in the sand and tan then make an incredible sand castle worthy of awe.
  4. The pool. I love to hang by the pool but I love to play chicken even more! I have to dive off the diving board a few times as well.
  5. Staying up late. This needs to happen all the time, but for no reason. I just want to be in my room with my friends acting silly and movies on Netflix and just enjoying each other’s company. Who knows when I’ll ever get to do that again.
  6. Have a potluck picnic outside. I want all my friends to bring different foods and we can sit out on the lawn and enjoy the variety.
  7. Have sleepovers. Self-explanatory but very, very necessary.
  8. Destroy everybody playing Xbox on Guitar Hero and Rock Band and Dance Central 😀
  9. Play actual old school games with people like monopoly, apples to apples, twister, uno and just laugh it up.
  10. Last but not least, I have to go clubbing with my friends and drink and dance the nights away!

I am absolutely looking forward to all the shenanigans I plan to get into this summer.
